Nuggets and articles

Here is a list of fun facts about fengshui and lunar astrology in general. While not exhaustive, these nuggets of information will let you gain some insight into the tools used to help you gain a lead in life.

Eight Commonly Seen Bad Fengshui Formations

Here is a common list of commonly encountered external formations that are, in the long term, not very auspicious for the associated home. Commonly known as "sha qi" or killing energy, these configurations can create oppressive energy which could result in obstacles, familial tension, career stagnation, reduced vitality, loss of wealth, restlessness or even unexpected troubles or accidents.

Personally speaking, I am not an advocate for symbolic cures. You can read my article below on "Why do most fengshui items not work" to gain an understanding on why this is so. A mindful repositioning of your home internal setup has 100X more power and effectiveness as compared to anything you can put in the home. However, there are indeed many situations whereby a renovation of the home or a repositioning is not possible (perhaps you rented the place, maybe there is a central support beam that cannot be shifted etc.). In such cases, symbolic cures can provide a reprieve and at times able to reduce the bad effects to a relatively low level. However, in some serious cases, moving to a new home may be the only option left.

Through repositioning, symbolic cures, or mindful design; you can restore balance and inviting health, harmony, and prosperity back into your space. Or in the very least, neutralize the threat yes? For example, say your house main door is facing an incoming T junction. If you are unable to erect a wall or say grow trees to block that incoming qi, then you can use the deflector lions to repel the incoming bad sha qi (killing energy) back so that the negative effects on your home can be minimized. This is a band-aid solution - discuss with your master for permanent solutions.

fengshui cross

Number 1

The Pistol Sha / Road Bash Sha Formation

This usually occurs when at the end of a road, at the end of a T junction or a highway that is pointing right at your home. The heavier the traffic, the more potent it is. The incoming aura qi is very straight-on. It could even be a river instead of a road at times! Not all direct bashes are bad but in general, we try to avoid living in such houses. Round and twisty qi is good whereas head-on qi is unfavorable. You may not be able to see it but this bashing could actually exist inside a home by taking on a slightly different form. A pair of deflector lions can help in the diversion of the incoming sha qi.

fengshui strike

Number 2

The Edge Sha Formation

The straight knife edge of an external object such as the edge of a building, a wall, the pointed edges of objects, the tip of your neighbors' roof, the antenna of an adjacent building etc. Edge shas are pretty powerful. When they are located in an unfavorable position, the bad stuff do tend to come quickly. The rate of occurrence can be quite aggressive and the severity can be pretty savage in some cases. In more high level setups, one can actually use them to do GOOD things! The takeaway here is that this bad formation can occur INTERNALLY in your home too. So, do take note.

fengshui curve

Number 3

The Bow and Arrow Sha Formation

This is a more grandiose external formation but it is actually quite important when it comes to choosing a place for long term residency. And the bow and arrow is actually a pretty common formation in cities - think of windy roads weaving though neighborhoods. The rounded pointy edge of the bow is the "bad side" and the empty area is the "good side". The good side invokes peace, long lasting wealth effects etc. The bad side could invoke sudden bad unexpected changes, severe monetary losses etc. This formation is is subject to other conditions but if you are choosing a place and you happen to spot this formation, then give this house a pass. You will thank yourself later on.

fengshui gap

Number 4

The Heaven's Blade Sha Formation

More like Hell's Blade yeah... especially if that sector of your house that is under attack is already "unfavorable" to begin with. When this sha is activated, aka when the time is right, then the accidents, quarrels and surgeries etc. that could happen are no laughing matter. Even if the sector is good, you should still use mindful design to divert this away, which speaks to the severity of this sha. The effects tend to be amplified because this is a large scale invasion of the peace by huge physical external objects.

fengshui reflection

Number 5

The Reflection Sha Formation

Some simple effects could be becoming unfocused and forgetful or having slow reflexes, serious effects could be getting into accidents and mishaps. This is less of a problem for office buildings as all the surrounding buildings have reflective glass panels for privacy and to reduce the amount of heat entering the building. But this may be a problem for some high rise flats or condominiums. Also remember, there are other things that can reflect piercing light.. So now, you have another tool in your fengshui arsenal for choosing a flat!

fengshui opposite

Number 6

The Door Vs. Door Sha Formation

There are two basic versions of this formation. One version is where your door is facing your neighbors door. The other version is when your door is facing the lift door. For the former, some old wives' tales will say that one family will be prosperous while the other will go into decline. This is not entirely accurate as it depends on at least three other factors. A precise ground measurement will tell you the true story. Using the blessed grump or the deflector lions can help if you are really having quarrels with your neighbors though! But if the door is facing the elevator or lift, especially if the door is directly facing the lift, then you do need to deflect the sha qi away. This is also known as the Open Mouth Sha. Irregardless of whether the lift's position is favorable, the opening and closing of the doors creates an unstable qi field and thus should be avoided.

fengshui empty

Number 7

The Missing Sector Sha Formation

It is common for houses to be missing a portion of the layout due to the design of the house as well as adjacent structures. If the missing portion is not more than 1/3 of the length/width, then it will not be an issue. If the missing portion is greater than 1/3 of that length or width, then that sector could be considered "missing". In that case, subpar effects could occur depending on which sector is missing. For example if the southwest sector is missing, then someone in the family could have gastrointestinal issues, the mom could face extra stresses or lose power at home, etc. To help with the issue, you could boost the elemental component of that sector up and place the Blessed Grump along the edge of the missing sector. It's not that straightforward, as there are various factors to be considered for a cure but in general it is not wise to select a house with missing sectors.

fengshui yellow sha

Number 8

The Five Yellow Sha

This is a powerful qi sha that changes location every year. It is also called an annual affliction. This means that maybe in 2023 it is at the Northwest sector but in 2024 it will be in the West sector. If that sector is favorable, then there is no need for a symbolic cure. However if the sector is not favorable, then the Five Yellow Sha will be activated and bad effects may befall the home. The least could range from bad luck to even death for some seriously horrific setups. Now since one does not know which sector is favorable or not, then one shall play safe and suppress the location yes? Use the attached table below, locate the Five Yellow sector in your home for that year, and place the Wealth Frog on the 5 coins set in that associated sector. The coins are not just normal coins; trust me on that. You can just use the compass on your handphone to locate the required sector in a flash. Perform the following steps:

a)  Stand in the middle of your home. Assuming that your home is a rectangle, then the middle will be the point where the diagonals bisect.

b) Face the front of your home. The front is usually where the balcony is located or where the most activity is (cars, people, sunlight, front door etc.).

c) Take out your phone and go to the compass app. Facing front, orientate your phone such that the front edge of your phone is facing the front of your house. The compass reading you see on your phone is the facing of your home. Let's say its at 90 degrees. This is the East. You can now see where the Five Yellow is located for that year you are interested in. If it's the year 2024, using the attached table at the end we know that the Five Yellow is in the West, and therefore we can conclude that this yellow monster is right behind you, at the rear of the house, as the direct opposite side of East is the West!

* you may need to leave your home to reconfirm this compass reading. This is because there are lots of interfering magnetic fields at home, which almost always leads to inaccurate results. Walk far away, and point the phone towards the front of your home. You should get a reading close to 270 degrees. This is because the opposite of 90 degrees on the compass, is 270 degrees.

d) As an example, lets say you are facing the front of your home and the phone's compass shows North. If the year is 2024, then the Five Yellow is in the West, which means the yellow monster is to your left side. Look at the table below to see where the boundaries of the West are located. It is a 45 degree sector so its pretty big. Then do what you need to do!

Year          Sector where the Five Yellow is located
2024 -    in the West                 247.5-292.5 degrees
2025 -    in the Northeast        22.5-67.5 degrees
2026 -    in the South                157.5 - 202.5 degrees
2027 -    in the North                337.5 - 22.5 degrees
2028 -   in the Southwest         202.5-247.5 degrees

Some Famous Fengshui Configurations

Some houses are more blessed than others; their positioning, the internal setup, the surrounding landscape and the alignment of the house to its inhabitants are in perfect harmony with one another.  For certain houses, it is indeed possible to set up certain configurations to bring pronounced wealth, health and peace to its inhabitants. In general, a peace setup is 20X easier to achieve than a wealth setup. Which is why it is easier to be average, but you need mega tons of blessing credits to be very wealthy indeed!

What is a  "palace", a "star" and an "activator" in lunar astrology?

In lunar astrology, a "palace" or more commonly known as a "house", is a location where physical events occur. There are 12 palaces in a lunar chart, namely:  Life, Siblings, Spouse. Children, Wealth, Health, Travel, Friends, Career, Property, Blessings, Parents. Each palace can symbolise much more than their name suggests though. So let's say that if your wealth palace is particularly good, then making money will be relatively easier for you as compared to the general population!

A "star" is an artificial construct in the birth chart used to symbolise certain traits and effects. There are over 108 stars in the lunar chart that can be used to explain stuff. For example if you are governed by the Amplifier (see the pictorial below), then the gift of the gab is already embedded in yiour genes! Use it well, and you are definitely on the way to success! Analysis of stars is very dominant in pop astrology because personality traits etc. can be inferred from the star combinations in the chart. While certain unique combinations can give more insight into the situation at hand, the heavy duty analysis of events will eventually be handed over to the activators governing that particular situation! What then, is an activator?

An "activator" is the key used to understand how an event unfolds. Typically, the type of event, how it will happen, why it will happen and when it will happen can be traced via the activators. There are 4 activators attached to many different stars and through special techniques, we can use the activators to plot a path to maximise the chances of obtaining the desired results! For example, why is it difficult for a couple to conceive? Upon activator analysis, we find that triggering event A at time zone 1 + event B at time zone 2 = success in conceiving!  (this is why sometimes IVF fails; the failure of not triggering event A and B will drastically decrease the probability of IVF success. That said, for distinct couples, the events A,B,C... are uniquely different!)

An example of a lunar birth chart is depicted below, showing where a typical palace, star and activator looks like!

Why do most Fengshui items not work?

Most commonly used fengshui artifacts do not work.  This is because they are just objects. Like a cup or a pen.  Imagine this. I tell you that this Pilot pen that i have on this table, is a holy pen. With time, it make you smarter. Book smart. You will inevitably become more knowledgeable and will acquire an insatiable thirst for knowledge. With that, I will now sell you this sacred pen that is made in Japan for 10000 dollars. Will you buy it? Of course not! You are not a moron yes. Now, instead of selling you this pen, I mold an unique metal Chinese brush. It's huge. Maybe one metre in length? Designed to be hung on your wall ceiling. Slanted, and absolutely gorgeous. On it will be exquisite symbols, maybe even archaic runes being carved on it. Beautiful seamless paint job on the hilt of the brush. The tip of the brush is made from a special fur and the runes are legendary etchings said to enhance wisdom. Every month or so, you will need to wet the tip of the brush for good effects to carry on. To have continued wisdom, so to speak. Should you stop wetting that tip, the brush loses its efficacy. Now, will you pay 10000 for this brush? Aha, it‘s not that far off now right? With the appropriate persuasion and recommendation by a master or the million dollar table sales person, you might just buy it! Sorry, there is no difference between this brush and that pilot ball point pen. If you are paying 10000 bucks for this work of art, that's cool. It's acceptable because I think it will really look good alongside the right decor and matching design language at home. However, if you are paying 10000 bucks for a fengshui object that has purported qualities, then no. You are just throwing your cash away for nothing. There are more effective stuff that actually works.

And any stuff you put in for enhancement, has a maximum efficacy of 10%. Give or take. Usually 5%. It's like getting a 52/100 for your test and now you are getting 57/100. Slight improvement, yes. Noticeable, maybe. Life changing, no. Nothing can replace an actual fengshui audit. That's 100X more powerful than anything you can put at home.

So, what works?

One, that object that we are using needs to be able to change and affect the aura of that location it is in. I use negative ions because they are fast acting. A small amount is like taking a deep breath. It makes you feel better. But it doesn't change anything significant. There are sectors or regions at home in Fengshui. A level 1 or 2 artefact does not affect the aura of your home. But a level 3 artefact will affect the aura of the location it is in (I will teach you how in the instructions provided) . For example, sector X is your wealth sector. If you follow the given instructions with a level 3 artifact, and let's say you are in investing, then within a short time you will see a spike in your earnings. It's very real. Thing is, if you put the level 3 artifact in the wrong location, you will actually see said earnings drop. It works both ways yeah. Which is why I will need to see your floorplan of your home and I will tell you where and how to place the level 3 artifact. Without an audit it is still possible though, I will provide the instructions with the artifact. May not be as effective, but it can still work.

Two, we could overwhelm the elemental configuration of the sector, in essence altering it or enhancing said element. For example, in some landed properties one can see a huge garden or a nice big pond. If that sector requires water and your nice big pond just happens to be in that sector, congratulations to you because that's prosperity in the making. Erm, it's easier said than done, but you get the idea. Another example will be a "nasty" Earth-based gangster that will go around the home and wreak havoc wherever it lands. It does so in a different location in the home every year. When it's really activated, it‘s very destructive indeed. Lawsuits, accidents, mishaps etc. So, this nasty Earth aura requires some neutralization. We can use the element water, as water directly counteracts earth. But will you challenge an angry gangster holding a knife to a direct face-to-face fight? You may win, but you will also be injured in the process, yes? Not that wise. However, if one asks the hostage negotiator to talk the gangster down and once he calms down, then disarmament occurs, wouldn't that be better? So using metal will be a good choice, as Metal exhausts Earth, which makes the Earth weak and powerless. Now the gangster can no longer wreak havoc! On paper, that idea appears promising. Which is why you will see sales people selling or recommending metal coins to home owners for such a purpose. But in practice using 5 ancient coins to exhaust said notorious gangster that can cause fatal accidents in particular cases? You must be kidding me. The coins are just coins and you just do not have enough metal to make anything work. I have witnessed many mishaps via this approach, as it is hugely popular in certain regions. So using this approach by itself won't work, which brings us to point three:

Three, using blessed artefacts works. What are blessed artifacts? Think of it as a prayer that doesn't go away and gets stuck to the object, making it blessed. For example, the holy monks at a temple could bless an object via incantations due to their spiritual authority, purity, or deep connection to the divine. When properly blessed, the artifact becomes more than a symbolic object; it serves as a conduit for protective energy or divine favor. This spiritual charge can offer real effects, such as warding off harm, enhancing inner strength, or shielding the bearer from negative forces. There are three kinds of blessing incantations. The first type of incantation is to activate or to open the path to divinity of an idol. This is usually done in holy events, sacred places, temples or as a ritual to bless temple amulets or idols. Two, using fengshui incantations to charge up an artifact so as to neutralize the bad auras of a location. Active defense, one might say. This is done when there is no way renovate the affected location or if that offending structure is actively assaulting the home and there is no way to move it out of the way. The blessing acts as a spiritual imprint, activating the artifact’s latent fengshui potential. The Blessed Grump is an example of a charged artifact. It looks grumpy but I tell you, it works. Do note that many artifacts sold online have small paper certifications that claim that they are blessed. I have tested whatever I could get my hands on. Unfortunately, it's but an effective marketing tactic.

Is there a way to determine an object is indeed blessed? If you are my client, I can show you physically how it's determined. In person. You will be very very astonished. Because you can actually see it in action. I am very scientific so tangible proof is crucial, whenever possible. But till then, take my word that it really works but only purchase from the shop if you really need it yeah.
